Automata: Antonio Banderas and some deep robot love...

Post-Apocolyptia for sure, a somber good bye in anticipation of the Singularity.

It is easy to be led down the path that computers, robots, technology and all things in between will merge and "wake up" someday - where I stand on this remains shaky as I learn and understand more and more about the technologies at hand. See Singularity and Ray Kurzweil for more on that subject.

This movie was done in believable fashion, even more so with out a lead gun toting hero I was afraid of when I say Antonio Banderas as the lead.  The future is grim, the oceans are dried up, technology is everywhere - even making our rain.  This all happens after massive solar flares wipe all but a few million off of the planet.

More than a few movies bring to the table the experience of computers achieving humanity, it is a romantic thought - our creation excelling and exceeding our design expectations. Automata is no different in this respect, lets hope we are so lucky and the real awakening is more like this and less of the enslaving make the humans into batteries like we saw in the Matrix.
